48 Hours

I've formed a team to create a short film for this year's 48 Hour Film Project, which kicks off Friday, April 8 and is due Sunday, April 10. Yes. 48 hours. Basically, we get a genre, a line of dialog, a character and a prop at 7 p.m. on Friday and have to turn in a finished film of less than seven minutes by 7 p.m. Sunday.

Crystal Fractal interview

Fellow unsung indy comic creator and colleague Dino Caruso is doing this neat set of interviews with other such creators over at the blog for Crystal Fractal Comics, a small Canadian comic publisher. Last week, he finally posted the interview we conducted over about three months.

Where I’ll Be: Double Down Radio

This Friday night from 8 to 10 p.m., I'll be returning to the internet airwaves (web-waves?) for another installment of "Live from the Double Down Saloon."

The Utopian diorama

The Utopian comes to life in the East Side Projects window display at the Las Vegas Contemporary Arts Center.

Facebooking

After much thinking and consulting with friends and associates on the subject, I finally went and created a public Facebook "fan" page for myself on Facebook.

The kindness of strangers

I'm hoping you can help me raise a little bit of cash for a couple of super-nice internet pals who are facing down potential homelessness on March 1 if they don't come up with a security deposit to move into a new home.

Where I’ll Be: Las Vegas Country Saloon

As Yet Unbroken is back, performing at Las Vegas Country Saloon (425 Fremont St., above Mickey Finnz) at 8 p.m. this Thursday, Feb. 24 with fellow local bands Pigasus and Viva Valhalla for a night of fund-raising rock 'n' roll.

Vegas Seven: Sin City Gallery

I really meant to post this a week ago, which would have made sense since that's when the issue of Vegas Seven in question actually hit stands, but my look at the transformation of Laura Henkel Fine Art into Sin City Gallery ran as the lead A&E feature in Feb. 10's issue of Vegas Seven.

Vegas comic book scene gets profiled

There's a nifty feature in today's Las Vegas Review-Journal "Neon" section about the Vegas comic book community's growth and development, written by John Przybys. It even includes a not-too-shabby picture of me in my home studio space.

The Utopian’s coming out party

I'll be signing comics and shaking hands at two very worthy events in Las Vegas next week, Friday, Jan. 21 at Sunrise Coffee and Saturday, Jan. 22 at Alternate Reality Comics.
