Back in April, I was among the invited guests to speak during an installment of the 18×18 Speaker Series at Art Square Theatre in the 18b Arts District. The format of these presentations was based on the Pecha Kucha 20×20 events, where a speaker had 20 slides and 20 seconds per slide to get across his or her message. For the 18×18, the format was adjusted to 18 slides, 18 seconds each. The theme for the night was “Art Attack,” which basically left it open for translation to the presenters. I opted to talk not about myself or even art directly, but the very concept of being an artist,  how one defines oneself, and the notion of ambition versus expectation.
