All you need to know is that I’m clearing out nearly every other creative project for the month of November and, for who knows what reason, attempting to write approximately 2,000 words a day toward the goal of completing a 50,000-word novel by month’s end. Yes, it’s National Novel Writing Month, affectionately known as NaNoWriMo.
At the last minute — inspired by ideas that came to me while driving back from California last night with Nine Inch Nails’ album Year Zero blaring — I decided to switch from a grounded piece of narrative fiction based on events in my own life (but not autobiographical in the least) to a work of science fiction (heavier on the fiction than the science) taking place in an alternate reality, based on a concept that came to me in a dream when I was a young lad.
I don’t have much more to say now, because, well, I have to save my writing muscles for the novel writing. But stay on top of me at my NaNoWriMo home page, and check back here soon (maybe tomorrow?) for news about this weekend’s shenanigans, including the Vegas Valley Comic Book Festival and other stuff!
